About Sinharaja Rain Forest

Sinharaja is biologically the most unique wet ever green rain forest in the country with an exceptionally high degree of endemism. Sinharaja is famous for its mixed feeding bird’s flocks and a high degree of endemic birds can be observed during the bird walks. 17 of the 33 endemics have been recorded in Sinharaja. It’s a global biodiversity hotspot and a UNESCO World Heritage Site also the last extensive stretch of virgin rainforest on the island. Sinharaja camping site at “Kudawa” is located on a peninsula in the forest and surrounded by two rivers (deep enough for swimming) and just beyond the tea plantation (where you will see the traditional tea pluckers in action). Even without leaving the camp itself. So much can be seen, so let the nature comes to you. The peaceful camp is an ideal location for early morning bird watching before a fascinating nature trail through the forest.
